Rooted Cuttings

Carefully propagated on our farm, these rooted cuttings make it easy to grow a collection of well-loved plants for your cutting garden or cottage garden.

This collection includes heirloom chrysanthemums, scented geranium, and sedum—plants chosen for their usefulness, longevity, and quiet beauty in both the garden and the vase. From sturdy heirloom mums grown for cut flower production, to fragrant, textural foliage for late-season bouquets, to pollinator-loved sedum that shines from early summer through fall, these varieties are a memorable addition to arrangements and cottage style gardens.

Shipping

Rooted cuttings ship in April and May, once the threat of frost has passed. Our shop opening date is dependent on rooting speed, but typically falls in early to mid-April so that we can begin shipping promptly to most growing zones.

Caring For Your Rooted Cutting

Your rooted cuttings are shipped in oasis cubes and sent via USPS Priority Mail. While they arrive well rooted, they benefit from a brief period of potting up and growing on before being planted out into the garden.

Upon arrival, we recommend potting your cuttings into a 4” pot and growing them indoors under grow lights or in a greenhouse for a few weeks. Allowing the plants to become slightly more established helps them better handle the fluctuations of spring weather once planted outside.

After shipping, plants should be gradually reintroduced to light. They have spent several days in darkness during transit and will appreciate a slow acclimation to grow lights or full sun in the greenhouse. A gradual introduction over 3–5 days is typically sufficient. Signs of acclimating too quickly are usually leaf burn.

Once hardened off and planted out, these varieties will reward you with steady growth and generous harvests throughout the season, whether grown for bouquets or enjoyed in the garden.
